2 Dalit Men Allegedly Thrashed For 'Sporting Moustache' In Gujarat Village

Ahmedabad:  Two Dalit males at a village close to Gandhinagar in Gujarat have been allegedly thrashed by members of the Rajput neighborhood for “sporting a moustache” in two separate incidents, the police stated yesterday.On September 29, Krunal Maheria, 30, a legislation pupil, was allegedly crushed up by Bharatsinh Vaghela. In his criticism to Kalol taluka police, Mr Maheria stated Mr Vaghela assaulted him for sporting a moustache.

“Once I was visiting my buddy, Vaghela and a few others intercepted me and verbally abused me. Vaghela instructed me that I can not develop into a Rajput by simply sporting a moustache. Once I ignored him, Vaghela beat me up with a stick,” Mr Maheria stated yesterday.

He returned residence yesterday after present process therapy at Gandhinagar civil hospital. A police criticism has been filed, a Kalol taluka police officer stated, including Mr Vaghela has been arrested. “A criticism was additionally registered towards Maheria,” the officer added.

The same case was reported in Limbodara village on September 25, when some individuals of the Rajput neighborhood allegedly thrashed Piyush Parmar, 24.

“Parmar had alleged that some Rajput males from the village beat him up when he was returning residence after a garba programme. He had alleged that higher caste males thrashed him over his moustache. No arrests have been made but in that case,” the officer stated.
