Dalit Man Allegedly Beaten To Death For Attending Garba Event In Gujarat

Ahmedabad:  A 21-year-old Dalit man was allegedly overwhelmed to loss of life by a bunch of males belonging to the higher caste Patel neighborhood for attending a garba occasion in Gujarat’s Anand district at this time, police mentioned.Jayesh Solanki, his cousin Prakash Solanki and two different Dalit males had been sitting close to a home at four within the morning, adjoining to a temple in Bhadrania village when an individual made “derogatory remarks about their caste”, police mentioned quoting a grievance.

The accused mentioned Dalits “would not have any proper to look at garba. He made casteist remarks and requested some males to return to the spot,” an officer at Bhadran police station mentioned.

The higher caste males allegedly thrashed the Dalits and banged Jayesh’s head towards a wall, the officer mentioned. He was taken to a hospital in Karamsad, the place he died later within the morning.

The officer mentioned a police grievance has been filed.

Senior police officer AM Patel mentioned it didn’t seem like a pre-planned assault. “Jayesh was killed within the warmth of the second, as there was no rivalry between him and the accused. We’re probing the case from all angles. The accused can be arrested quickly,” the officer mentioned.
