State Bank of Pakistan, the Central Bank of the country, regulates the monetary and credit system of Pakistan and fosters its growth in the best national interest with a view to securing monetary stability and optimum utilization of the country’s productive resources. In order to meet human resource needs of Monetary Policy and Research Group, applications are invited from high caliber and dynamic professionals for the following positions, permanently based at Karachi.

Senior Analyst / Deputy Director (OG-3)

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake research and analysis on sector specific issues and produce independent write-ups.
  • Prepare working papers and briefs for senior management on prevailing economic issues.
  • Monitor developments taking place in the assigned sector and maintain a close interaction with other Departments and Agencies/Firms outside SBP to gather insights on the performance, challenges and outlook for the sector.
  • Collaborate with a team of Analysts working on economic issues, framework and forecasting models.
  • Undertake any other assignments as entrusted by the SBP management.
 QualificationMaster’s or Bachelor’s (16 years) degree from HEC recognized universities or equivalent degree from a reputable foreign university in Economics.
 AgeMaximum age limit is 35 years.
 ExperienceAt least 05 years of post qualification experience of analytical research and writings.
 CompetenciesStrong writing and presentation skills, knowledge of econometric software and sound understanding of data related issues.
 CompensationCompetitive compensation package in the salary scale of OG-3 position including loan facility, medical, provident fund, gratuity and other benefits as per Bank’s rules.

Statistical Officers Training Scheme (SOTS)

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:   Masters or Bachelors Degree with 16 years of education with at least 60% marks or 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or 3.5 CGPA out of 5.0 from HEC recognized Pakistani institutions in Statistics. Foreign degree holders are required to submit Equivalence Certificate issued by HEC along with the application. Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.

Age:             Maximum 26 years as on last date of submission of application. Age limit shall be relaxed by 03 years for candidates from FATA/Northern Areas/Gilgit Baltistan, Baluchistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir and by 05 years for employees of SBP and its subsidiaries subject to fulfilling all other eligibility requirements.

Application and Testing Procedure

Interested Pakistani/AJK nationals meeting above eligibility criteria are required to register themselves with SBP/IBP for appearing in the written test as per following procedure:

  • Application Form and Deposit Slip is available at SBP/IBP websites i.e., “Online Application Form
  • Click on “Online Application Form”. Read the instructions carefully and register yourself by clicking on “Register” and filling the Online Application Form.
  • Take the print out of Form along with Deposit Slip.
  • Deposit test fee of Rs.750/- for IBP testing service through Deposit Slip at any online branch of UBL/HBL.
  • Send Application Form along with attested copies of educational/professional documents, Equivalence Certificate from HEC (in case of foreign qualification), original IBP copy of Deposit Slip, domicile, CNIC and 03 passports size photographs to Senior Joint Director (Recruitment), Human Resources Department, State Bank of Pakistan I. I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi not later than April 17, 2017.
  • SBP/IBP will not be responsible for late receipt of application through post.
  • Candidates shortlisted by SBP based on eligibility criteria shall be sent admit cards by IBP at their postal addresses to appear in the written test to be held at designated test centers.
  • SBP/IBP will upload the test results at their respective websites. The test results will also be sent to candidates at their postal address.

Selection Procedure

The candidates shortlisted on the basis of written test and meeting other eligibility criteria will be invited for further selection process. Successful candidates will be selected in order of merit subject to observance of Provincial/Regional quota provisions as prescribed by Government of Pakistan.

Pre-Induction Training

After completion of pre-induction formalities including medical and psychological examinations, selected candidates shall undergo “Applied Focused Theoretical Training” (residential) at National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF), Islamabad.

Compensation Package

  • Consolidated monetized salary of Rs. 82,000/- per month and other perks and benefits as per Bank’s rules.
  • Medical facility as per Bank’s rules.
  • Staff Loans & other benefits and allowances as admissible under New Compensation & Benefits Structure as per Bank’s rules.

Deputy Director / Law Officer (OG-3)

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

kProvide legal advice/opinion on the issues pertaining to the various departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to safeguard Bank’s interest and avoid its exposure to legal and financial liabilities.
kExamine and vet legal documents including contracts and other instruments.
kExpertise in drafting/vetting orders, guidelines, notices, documents, contracts, letters, legislation etc. in accordance with the requirement of Bank.
kAttend meetings/ seminars/ hold discussions on behalf of the Bank with Legal Advisor, senior management of the Bank/Government Authorities, Foreign Agencies/delegates pertaining to the legal issues/contracts and policies of the Bank.
kReview banking laws whenever required and suggest amendments therein with due reference to the prevalent requirements and future developments.
kInteract with counterparts as and when required in commercial banks with a view to discuss their problems and render legal advice and guidance from a supervisory and regulatory perspective.
kAppear before the courts and various other fora on behalf of the Bank, where necessary.

Assistant Director / Legal Officer (OG-2)

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

Coordinate with different departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to facilitate legal advice/ opinion on the issues pertaining to general operations of the Bank.
Draft/vet orders, guidelines, notices, documents, contracts, letters etc. in coordination with the requirement of Bank’s clients, departments and external advocates.
Deal with legal issues in a timely and professional manner such that dependence on outside counsel is minimized.
Assist superiors in reviewing banking laws whenever required and suggest amendments therein with due reference to the prevalent requirements and future developments.
Analyze different banking laws and make recommendations for updating them for facilitating the operations of the banking industry.
Appear before the courts and other fora on behalf of the Bank where necessary.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:   At least LLB from HEC recognized University or Degree in Law from a reputable Foreign University. Candidates having relevant higher qualification will be preferred..

Age:                  Maximum 35 and 31 years for OG-3 & OG-2 positions respectively. Relaxation may be allowed in case of highly qualified or more experienced candidates.

Experience:      At least 06 and 03 years of post qualification experience for OG-3 & OG-2 positions respectively in legal matters. Relaxation may be allowed in case the candidate possesses credible working experience in similar capacity in reputable organization. Candidates must have valid license to practice as advocate..

Compensation:

Competitive compensation package in salary scale of Deputy Director (OG-3) and Assistant Director (OG-2); including loan facility, medical, contributory provident fund and gratuity as per Bank’s rules.
